Making waves in city's summer of sport

PLYMOUTH has always punched above its weight when it comes to the water. We're the city that raised Olympic legends like Tom Daley and Sharron Davies. Our pools have seen greatness and our coastline has shaped champions. But what's happening now? It’s not just a new beginning - it’s a bold evolution.

This summer, we're not just celebrating our aquatic heritage - we're building on it. And we're doing it with purpose. Our ambition? To make sure every child in Plymouth learns to swim, stays safe around water and has the chance to thrive in, on, and around it. Whether it’s for fun, fitness, or future careers, water should be a gateway to opportunity.

That's why the appointment of our new Aquatics Lead is such a game changer. It’s a signal that we're serious about becoming a national leader in aquatic excellence - not just in elite sport, but in community access, education, and wellbeing.

With Plymouth Active, Plymouth City Council, and Swim England all working together, we're setting the stage for something truly transformative. Swim England came to visit in June, they saw a city that's not just talking the talk - we're swimming the swim and we have joint exciting opportunities ahead.
