Labour MP calls a halt to city drop-in sessions

A PLYMOUTH MP has announced his biweekly drop-in sessions, which allowed constituents to attend his Frankfort Gate office to ask for help with issues affecting them, will have to be temporarily suspended, following safety issues.

Labour MP calls a halt to city drop-in sessions

Concerns have grown in recent weeks, following an number of incidents involving people protesting outside the office over the continuing war in Gaza. In June, anumber of protestors gathered outside the Plymouth Sutton and Devonport Labour MP's office in the city centre, calling upon the Government to impose an arms embargo on all exports and military aid to Israel.

This followed the Labour Government admitting in a written answer in Parliament in June that a “limited number” of Israel Defence Forces (IDF) personnel were being trained by UK Armed Forces.

Armed Forces Minister Mr Pollard informed Parliament in a written answer to Rachael Maskell, now the Independent MP for York Central, that, since December 2023, “the Ministry of Defence has conducted unarmed surveillance flights within the air space over Israel and Gaza, solely for the purpose of locating hostages’
