John's 'In a spin' with reissued vinyl singles
The Herald|April 27, 2024
A NEW Devon record label is reissuing classic vinyl singles from the golden age of music, including a very rare release from the band that became Status Quo. Three music buffs from Plymouth and Exeter have just released an early effort from pre-Quo group The Traffic Jam and even tracked down and interviewed Quo leader Francis Rossi for the liner notes.

The record, a flop when first issued but now a collector's item selling for up to £400 a pop, is one of the first two discs issued by In a Spin Vinyl. They have also pressed one by the late blues performer Duffy Power, another collector's gem which would set you back £100 for the original, but both discs are now available for £15.50 each.

The label has been set up by John Griffiths, of Exeter's record fair business HDR Music Group, and Plymouth brothers Jon and Rob Way, sons of musician Tony Way, whose Beatles' tribute band Backbeat was a popular draw across the South West. They have secured licences to reissue the cult records and linked with Dorset's VertiWorks to print the sleeves and Plymouth's DMS Vinyl to press the plastic.
