JD Sports to close up to 50 of its stores

JD Sports, one of the UK’s leading high-street brands, with a global presence that includes 4,500 stores in 36 countries, is set to close 50 stores around the world as part of a major restructuring strategy for the coming financial year.

The company, which has more than 400 outlets in the UK, started off as a single shop in the North West of England in 1981, before expanding dramatically to its current international status.

Now, despite this success, JD Sports is preparing to streamline its operations, which will result in numerous store closures.
