Graves need treating with utmost respect

The Herald

|

April 15, 2025

REGARDING recent media coverage of graves being vandalised in Plymouth, my opinion is that all graves should be treated with the utmost respect, and not - repeat, not - be decorated with what can only be described as a load of trash.

- Margaret Tucker

It would be much better if fresh flowers had been regularly put on the grave, such as fresh roses to show love for the deceased person, also perhaps a small and tasteful plaque placed on the grave of the person who had passed away, or a decent headstone supplied by the funeral directors.

My dear late mother would have described the people who had done this as "common" - her word for people of low intelligence and who did such things!

Protection for former Rovals is undeserved

CORRECT me if I'm wrong, but Prince Harry and his missus, Meghan, withdrew from Royal duties and decided to relocate to the USA. Now, he moans at not being afforded "royal protection" when he ventures on to UK soil. That is a taxpayer-funded expense.

Harry and his missus chose to stand back from Royal duties. It was their call, so let them get on with it! If you decline membership of a club, you are no longer a member. Is that not quite clear?

Disruptive fantasists must be challenged

IT'S baffling that anyone would look at the chaos in the USA under Donald Trump and Elon Musk and think: "Yes, let's copy that." Yet Reform UK - our own MAGA imitators - seem eager to do just that. They idolise Trump, branding him a strong leader, while ignoring his bullying, spite, and reckless behaviour.
