END OF AN ERA AS HOUSE OF FRASER SHUTS IN MARCH

- By WILLIAM TELFORD

PLYMOUTH'S popular Dingles restaurant will have to close when the city centre's landmark House of Fraser department store shuts in March, it has been confirmed.

Bosses at Sheffield-based Massarella Catering Group Ltd, which operates the top-floor eatery, said they were "saddened" to hear that the department store would be shutting in March and it meant they would be closing down their Plymouth operation too.

But they said it may be possible to open a new restaurant in a different building, although the search for a new home is at an early stage.

Of course, any new venue may not enjoy the panoramic views of the city that the current Dingles restaurant has.

And bosses were quick to thank the loyal customers, and staff, that had made Dingles - named after the name of the former department store - such a popular destination.

Daniela Massarella, marketing and food development director at Massarella Catering Group, told The Herald: "Unfortunately the store is closing down in March and this means that we will also have to close the restaurant.
