A YOUNG dad from Plymouth transformed his life after a “terrifying” diagnosis that “came out of nowhere”.

Jake Bristowe says he was living a happy, active life with his wife and two children until, at the age of 34, he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. He had to have lifesaving surgery at Derriford Hospital and faced a long road to recovery.

He admits he “felt broken” at times during his ordeal two years ago. But it inspired him to make a huge change and follow his dream career.

He said: “The diagnosis came out of nowhere. I had a young family, a secure future, and suddenly I was facing major brain surgery. It was terrifying.
