City council top job has a salary of £167,000

PLYMOUTH City Council is searching for someone to take on one of its top jobs with a salary of up to £167,000.

The authority is advertising for a chief operating officer, a post which has been unfilled "for some time".

Jens Gemmel, who describes himself as "a disrupter" who "gets bored quickly", has been filling the job on an interim basis. But now the council wants a permanent appointment, someone with "a desire to make a difference every day".

Meanwhile, the council has seen Philip Robinson depart his job as service director for street services to take the helm as chief officer at Tamar Crossings. He was earning between £82,949 and £115,330 at the council, with the new job, succeeding the recently retired David List, advertised at between £80,000 and £100,000 for a two-year contract.
