MIXED DOUBLES
This proved to inspire Dave and Nicky who went on to win the final set 6-4 playing some excellent net shots along the way.
In their second match of the week, Sue and Dave took the first set against Debbie Wilson and sub James Spurgeon. In the second set, Dave and Sue were up but Debbie and James dug deep to force a tiebreak which they then won.
Dave served well, Debbie was sharp at the net and James and Sue had some good groundshot rallies.
The final set was very close too, but Dave and Sue managed to clinch it and win 6-3, 5-6, 6-2.
Encouraged by playing on a beautiful, dry and mild evening with no wind, Dudley Tolkien and Janet Butler put in their best performance of the season so far, but unfortunately it was not enough to stop Debbie Wilson and sub Mike Smith winning 6-3, 6-3, 6-1.
Nick Haley and Fiona Crutchley dominated the first two sets, but in the third Roanna George and sub Simon Dusting started well with a 2-1 lead, the next game was a critical one which went to several deuces finally being won by Nick and Fiona, who then went on to win the set and overall 6-0, 6-0, 6-2.
MEN'S
JASON Vosper and Yuen Siu played Dave Gale and Steve Matcham in a competitive match, although it wasn't looking good for Dave and Steve after Yuen and Jason raced to a 5-0 lead in the first set. However, they settled to win the next two games, before conceding the set.
