EX-LIFEBOATMAN RETURNS AFTER VOYAGE OF DISCOVERY
AN ex-Plymouth lifeboatman has spent nine years sailing alone 30,000 miles around the world - and now he's coming home after an incredible adventure.
Barry Perrins 68, fulfilled a childhood dream on his 36ft sailing boat. He says it was a "nine-year voyage of adventure and personal discovery".
Barry started his epic journey from Plymouth in June 2016 on an odyssey to sail as far as he could over the next seven years.
He didn't tell his family he'd planned to go "all the way around" because he wasn't sure himself, and at that time says he was not an experienced sailor.
