Babcock wins new contract for navy frigates refit

The defence giant has been awarded the contract to manage the Type 23 class frigate Refit Support Group, which will mean Babcock have end-to-end responsibility for vessel upkeep and regeneration in preparation for handover to the ship’s crew.

Previously the Refit Support Group has been led by the Royal Navy, but Babcock says the contract will allow Royal Navy personnel to be freed up for front-line operations instead.
