FIERCELY CONTESTED CLASH
LESS than 24 hours after her second senior cap for Wales, Tianna Teisar came off the bench to rescue a 1-1 draw for Plymouth Argyle Women in a fiercely contested Devon derby against Exeter City at St James Park on Wednesday night.
The Greens had to dig deep after falling behind to Sophie Gillies’ milestone 100th goal for the Grecians, but Teisar’s finish capped off a determined second-half display from a side that refused to fold.
"It wasn't the three points we came here for," Teisar reflected post-match. “Going 1-0 down, it was tough, but I thought the girls showed real good character in the second half to get the goal back. We pushed for the win towards the end, just couldn’t get it over the line, but it was a positive point.”
It was a night that underlined both the club’s growing character and the promise within their ranks - with 20-year-old Teisar adding another memorable chapter to her rapid rise.
From the first whistle, the game was played at high intensity, with both sides pressing hard and looking to seize control in midfield. Argyle’s front line - led by Charlotte Whitmore and Phoebie Poole - caused problems on the break, while Exeter relied on long spells of possession to build attacks.
