Scientists Call for Urgent Research into Sunscreen Impact on Sealife

Urgent investigation is needed into the impact of sunscreen on marine life, a scientific review suggests.
The products contain chemical compounds, known as pseudo-persistent pollutants, which block ultraviolet rays but can also lead to bleaching and deformity in coral and a decrease in fish fertility.
Sunscreen is washed off into the sea in surprisingly high volumes, according to the review; one study found that a single beach with 1,000 visitors could lead to 35kg entering the ocean in one day.
