Gauff eyes full-throttle mode for form boost

The Guardian

Coco Gauff says she intends to empty her energy reserves and leave everything on the court as she attempts to build her form and be ready to challenge for her second grand slam title of the season at the US Open.

"For me, it feels kind of like, when you're playing the little race car game and you have the nitro button to push, you want to give it your all for this time of the year," said Gauff during her pre-tournament press conference at the Cincinnati Open.

"Not necessarily only because I'm American, obviously, playing in the biggest spot for our sport in the country, but also it being the final slam of the year, the final few big moments.

"Obviously we have the Asian swing and things like that. But everybody's attention is on the US Open. And so it feels like I'm pushing that nitro button and leaving it all out there.

"This is the part of the season that you're on the court and you're just like, 'I want to give it literally everything."

Nige had never met a foreigner he didn't want to deport - the rest of us just needed educating

It's amazing how quickly some things get normalised. Only last week Donald Trump not only claimed to have no idea who Peter Mandelson was, he also insisted he had ended a major war between Azerbaijan and Albania. In a saner world, someone might raise an eyebrow at this. But no longer. This is just The Donald being The Donald. What a guy!
