Appeal to find head of rare shark taken from beach
The Guardian
|March 20, 2023
An appeal has been launched to recover the head of a rare small-tooth sand tiger shark after the fish was washed up on a Hampshire beach.
The 1.8-metre (6ft) shark was initially found on Lepe beach on Friday.
The historian Dan Snow was enlisted to secure and examine the shark, a species classified as vulnerable and is rarely spotted. However, before he arrived the head, tail and fin had been cut off and taken away.
