When Boro marched on against Saints

LET'S hope that history repeats itself. It's almost 25 years to the day since Middlesbrough recorded a convincing 3-1 victory at Southampton.

That success, thanks to two goals from the Croatian international Alen Boksic, made Boro the highest away scorers in the Premier League at the time.

And they have a chance to end up as the Championship's top away scorers this weekend if they can grab a couple of goals at St Mary's.

Bristol City lead the way with eight goals on the road this season, while Boro and Coventry both have seven.

With the increased fire power, and with Rob Edwards producing a different plan for every game, it’s a distinct possibility that Boro could move into the lead on the away goals list.

After all the Saints have hardly set the world alight so far following their relegation from the top flight.
