We still want Mor from Rogers, says Villa boss

UNAI Emery has described Morgan Rogers’ progression at the club as “fantastic” amid reports of Liverpool's interest in the England midfielder.

Both Chelsea and Tottenham were linked with the former Middlesbrough player during the transfer window, while Emery has challenged him to help kick-start winless Villa's season.

Emery, whose side bid for their first Premier League win of the campaign at Sunderland tomorrow, said: “Morgan Rogers, how he’s progressing, how he did his progression here, really is fantastic, and still the same challenge he has.

“He has this challenge, to continue improving and keeping the level he had last year.

“Of course, we started as a team (worse) than we did last year, and we started individually as well (worse) than last year. We have to, everybody, try to react, and Sunday is the first opportunity we have.”
