PEOPLE WHO ENTER THE FIRE-HIT SITE AT RISK, SAYS COUNCIL

Warnings over derelict hotel

COUNCIL bosses are doubling down on their warning for people to stay out of a derelict Teesside hotel which was set ablaze on Sunday.

The Golden Eagle, which has been a blot on the landscape for many years, was deliberately set on fire at around 5.15pm.

A former hotel, the building in Thornaby had become a magnet for children and adults entering the premises and putting themselves at risk.

Earlier this month, Cleveland Police issued an appeal urging people to stay out of the building and saying that on one occasion they had found males on the roof.
