Talented trio take over the Town Hall
The Gazette
|November 26, 2025
EARLIER this month, three lads from Stockton took over Middlesbrough Town Hall for the whole day.
-
Guests included Mike McGrother & Infant Hercules, Janice Burns & John Doran and Jez Lowe. A sold-out audience came together to celebrate 20 years of the Young’Uns. The Teesside folk trio are still young’uns at 40.
This unprecedented event kicked off at 11am with a family concert. Eaglescliffe’s Felicity Finch, or Ambridge's Ruth Archer as she may be better known, dropped in for a live podcast. The natter included Ghafoor without his magic bus, Dr Ifti Lone or Dr Boro as the song tells it, and one walking dad, Andy Airey. The event was topped off with an evening concert to complete a 12-hour birthday party.
It all started when teenage pals Sean Cooney, David Eagle and Michael Hughes popped in the Sun Inn for a sneaky pint. It just happened to be Stockton Folk Club night. The boys were hooked on the songs they heard that told stories, especially those that celebrated Teesside.
