REPLACEMENT steps for use on a public footpath have been granted planning permission for a second time after a previous installation was criticised.

Redcar and Cleveland Council admitted a previous set of steel steps it fitted leading up an old railway embankment near to Guisborough rugby club weren't up to the required standard.

The steps, which were subject to an original successful planning application, were later removed with a redesign being submitted to the local planning authority.

This was recently approved by members of the council's regulatory committee.
