Residents concerned about landfill proposals

SMELL, flies, gulls and dirt are among a list of objections to a landfill site's bosses' planning application.
Seaton Meadows Landfill Site
More than 45 objections have been lodged over the proposal to provide new infrastructure for "completion of activities" at Seaton Meadows Landfill in Hartlepool.
Landfill chiefs want to provide a change of access and a temporary road at the site.
The application, from Rick Bright at Bright and Associates, also includes additional infrastructure to complete landfill operations.
Proposals note it's "part-retrospective" because the one-way "site access onto Tofts Road East and the temporary access road, which passes through the former Halls Landfill Site and links to the waste transfer area in the Seaton Meadows Landfill site, have recently been partly established".
The scheme is for a temporary period of about three years from the date of the application being submitted, which was May 2024. In total 46 objections have been submitted to the council from residents.
