Positive signs as Dieng steps up his training

SENY Dieng was spotted back in training with Middlesbrough at their open training session, after an eight-month injury absence.

The goalkeeper last played for Boro in December and was forced to undergo Achilles surgery back in January that ended his campaign last term prematurely.

He has slowly been working his way back to fitness since, and the sight of him in training at the Riverside yesterday will be a welcome one.

Dieng encouragingly completed a full session, which included working alongside Boro’s other keepers Sol Brynn and Tom Glover before doing some extra one-to-one training with goalkeeper coach Alan Fettis as Brynn and Glover went to join in with an outfield exercise.

As he works his way back to being fully fit, Dieng was seen kicking well and also working on his spring in his diving and reactions, with what appeared to be minimal fuss.
