Parking issues cause customer decline at pub

A WELL-LIKED seaside pub in Saltburn has been ‘losing customers’ due to the tourists making it the ‘world’s worst’ area for parking.

The Marine, located on Marine Parade, is just a stone's throw away from the seafront promenade. The picturesque town is known for having free parking where tourists can even park their caravans and camp for days.

Earlier this year, Redcar and Cleveland Council painted double yellow lines along the back streets following complaints from residents. The local authority considered a ban on motorhome parking, on Glenside and Marine Parade overnight, but did not enforce it after receiving backlash from the public.

Stewart Nisbet, the bar manager who has been at the helm of the pub for 35 years, spoke about the ‘crackers’ parking situation. Stewart said: “A lot of people travel here, and we lose customers because there's no parking spaces for them. That knackers it up.
