New coaches 'geniuses' on the grass - Edwards

ROB Edwards described his new Middlesbrough coaching team as “geniuses”, as he detailed how he came to meet Adi Viveash and Harry Watling before bringing them to Boro with him.

A delayed process to name Edwards as new Boro head coach finally came to an end on Tuesday. Sealing deals for his backroom team was understood to be one of the hold-ups in getting the deal over the line.

Edwards has picked a nice blend in his coaching team, with 55-year-old Viveash having plenty of experience after serving for nine years in Chelsea's academy before spending seven years as Mark Robins’ assistant at Coventry.

Watling, meanwhile, is only 35 but has been involved in coaching for numerous years and became one of the youngest at 33 to pass his UEFA Pro Licence.

Explaining what his coaching team brings, Edwards said: “I think they've got great personality and brilliant coaching experience, at this level and at different levels as well.
