New artisan café set to serve up brunch, ‘posh' stotties and cakes

A NEW cafe with a mouthwatering and extensive menu was due to open yesterday in Norton.

The Tulip Lounge, at 12 Harland Place, will have a focus on lunch, brunch and cakes. The cafe is the latest business venture of husband and wife teams, Lyndsey and Hasan Gergin and Ersin and Fiona Surucu, who already run the hugely successful Elif restaurants on Norton Green and Yarm High Street.
Lyndsey and Hasan bought the building in October, which was formerly occupied by Meet at 12, and the refurbishment is now complete. Lyndsey, who also runs Treats in Durham with Hasan, described the new eatery as "a modern British cafe with international influences".
