older dogs, as long as they are otherwise healthy, after pre-anaesthetic checks.

Our four-year-old female cat was slightly under the weather. We were about to take her to the vet when she brought up a sausage-shaped mass. Is this a hairball, and if so, is it common and how can we prevent them? She seems back to normal now.
