Man seriously hurt as car hits building

VEHICLE HAD BEEN INVOLVED IN EARLIER POLICE CHASE
A MAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a collision in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The car had previously been pursued by officers on the A66 but the ‘car was lost’ and was located on CCTV after the one-vehicle collision off Cargo Fleet Lane.
Yesterday morning, collision investigators were at the scene with a large cordon erected blocking off a section of the busy road and most of Lidl car park, where it is understood a vehicle came to a stop after colliding with street furniture and the building.
A 35-year-old man has been taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, Cleveland Police has said.
At approximately 1.30am, officers sighted a vehicle on the A66 that subsequently failed to stop.
