Honouring our heritage

PHILIP Chisholm’s recent letter made a plea to Redcar and Cleveland Council and Mayor Houchen for them to honour the past, bringing the community together, stating our heritage defines our town.

A laudable and true fact. Unfortunately our proud heritage with this council carries little respect.

I say this turning the facts to Eston and its proud iron and steel heritage, promoted by Eston Residents Association for 25 years including designing and funding the many ironstone features in and around the town, especially the Heritage Garden next to the Eston Institute with the mining tub in pride of place at the centre of the plinth in the garden.
