Council in apology to Reform branch over 'mistake'

MIDDLESBROUGH Council has apologised to a political party branch over what it calls a logistical "mistake" during proceedings on Remembrance Sunday.

The incident meant Reform UK's Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland branch was unable to lay a wreath alongside other political groups and instead did so at the end of the service.

During the service, the elected mayor of Middlesbrough, the town's MPs and Cleveland's police and crime commissioner were invited to lay wreaths, as is customary.

Later during proceedings - when various organisations and political groups were called forward - was the moment when Reform's South Middlesbrough branch had intended to lay a wreath, but this never materialised.

Reform's Middlesbrough and Thornaby East branch and various other political groupings did lay a wreath.
