Burglar used axe in attack

Robert Harland, 35, and John Guest, 49, broke into a home on South Terrace in the South Bank area of Middlesbrough in the early hours of January 14.

Two brothers in the house next door heard a noise, and, knowing that their neighbour was away in Bangladesh, went to investigate.

The brothers got hold of Harland - but Guest picked up the axe that Harland had brought with him, and started attacking one of them.
