Bears to play Ace card in quest for Scorpions revenge

ACE Pijper returns to bring Redcar back to normal strength when they face Scunthorpe tomorrow (7.30pm), going in search of at least an extra point to change the result of Good Friday's clash in Lincolnshire.

The Scorpions won the home leg 46-44 when the sides clashed at the Eddie Wright Raceway despite Bears riders taking the chequered flag no fewer than 12 of the 15 heats.

Unfortunately for the Teessiders, repeated race wins from leading trio Danny King, Charles Wright and Erik Riss failed to produce enough heat advantages as they also provided a dozen last places.

Pijper was away contesting a World Under-19 Championship semi-final in the Czech Republic, ultimately abandoned after three races, with a mechanically blighted Pijper, who broke down while leading his first race, finishing on just one point.
