14 arrests as weapons and drugs are seized

SUSPECTED ‘date rape drugs’ were found in a raid on a Middlesbrough address and a 38-year-old man was arrested.

The man was one of 14 people arrested as part of Cleveland Police’s Operation Artemis - with others detained after drugs and weapons were found.

Four drugs warrants were carried out as part of the raids across Middlesbrough on Tuesday, June 16 - three of which led to officers locating and seizing drugs. Results from the raids are as follows:

At an address in Middlesbrough town centre, vials of liquid were recovered and 30 clonazepam tablets - all suspected to be potential date rape drugs. The 38-year-old man was arrested;

At Hollyhurst Avenue, a small amount of cannabis was recovered, and a 24-year-old man was arrested;
