Crocketford residents oppose proposal

Dozens of Crocketford residents are fiercely opposing plans to set up a children’s residential care home near their village.

Forty-one individuals have lodged formal objections with Dumfries and Galloway Council after the Caretech Group submitted proposals to transform a large house on the outskirts of Milton into a kids’ residential facility.

The well-established care company, which runs various facilities for children and adults across the UK, wants to set up a care home in the six-bedroom detached property known as Corbridge House.

Council planning case officer Chris McTeir is satisfied with the company’s plans and is recommending approval, however, councillors will have to weigh up strong discontent from locals.

Many argue that this is the wrong location for such a facility, and argue that it is “completely incompatible with the existing peaceful ambience of the area”.
