FOR ALLEGED ILLEGAL RECRUITMENT
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has shut down two language learning centers, one in Minglanilla town and the other in Cebu City, for alleged involvement in illegal recruitment activities.
Yesterday, DMW operatives, together with local authorities, raided a Japanese learning center located on the fourth floor of a commercial building in Barangay Linao-Lipata, Minglanilla. At least eight students were found in the middle of a class during the operation.
One female student told authorities that the training program lasted six to nine months with a total cost of P72,000, payable in monthly installments of P3,000.
