Mikel Rama hopes for collaborative council

Cebu City Councilor-elect Mikel Rama remained optimistic that members of the City Council will set aside political differences and work collaboratively for the benefit of the city and its constituents.

Rama, during the oath taking ceremonies of winners from Partido Barug, emphasized the significance of the occasion, calling it a “meaningful practice” and a “sacred undertaking” for every public officer.

He said that with his new role come responsibilities that he was eager to fulfill alongside his fellow councilors.

“I'm looking forward to working with our colleagues in the council to come up with an appropriate agenda as a collegiate body nga mo-address gyud sa current needs sa atong City,” said Rama, in an interview.

When asked about political party divisions within the council, the eldest son of former mayor Mike Rama dismissed the notion of a minority, saying that partisanship is relevant only during elections.

The younger Rama said he remained confident that there will be no major obstacles in carrying out the council’s work, as long as all members uphold their duty to serve.

He said that collaboration and commitment to public service should override any potential conflicts.
