The Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) has only restored 62 percent of its normal water supply as it races to repair major transmission lines and bulk water sources severely damaged by Typhoon Tino, which left several parts of Metro Cebu with little to no water.

MCWD spokesperson Minerva Gerodias said that the district is currently producing about 170,000 cubic meters daily out of its normal output of 275,000 cubic meters.

“Daghan kaayong nangaputol na linya,” Gerodias said, citing extensive damage in Talisay and Cebu City, particularly to the Jaclupan transmission line that carries 30,000 cubic meters daily from the Jaclupan facility to Lagtang in Talisay and Tisa in Cebu City.

The line was submerged and severed during the typhoon, prompting 24-hour repair operations expected to be completed within seven days.
