Hunger among families drops to 16.1% in June

Fewer Filipino families reported experiencing involuntary hunger in the second quarter of 2025, according to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

The nationwide poll, conducted from June 25 to 29, found that 16.1% of families or about 4.6 million households went hungry and had nothing to eat at least once in the past three months. This is 3.9 points lower than the 20% recorded from April 23 to 28.

SWS noted that hunger incidence was at 27.2% in March 2025 before falling to 19.1% in the April 11 to 15 survey.

“The 2025 average of 19.9% was 0.3 points lower than the 2024 average of 20.2%, and 1.2 points lower than the record-high 21.1% average of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic,” the survey showed.
