Firms urged to redirect party funds to relief drives

Business groups in Cebu are calling on companies across the province to rein in traditional Christmas spending this year and redirect budgets toward relief and recovery programs, as Cebu grapples with the fallout from recent earthquakes, flooding, and a softening economic environment.

With the 2025 holiday season approaching, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) said it remains "optimistic but realistic," citing expectations that many firms will adopt conservative celebrations amid tighter operating conditions.

CCCI is encouraging members to trade corporate parties for targeted community support, including donation drives and gift-giving initiatives benefiting displaced families and communities hit hardest by successive natural calamities.
