Erwin Tulfo doesn't deserve my vote

In the earliest days of my serving Cebu City as a councilor more than three decades ago, a learned gentleman ascribed me to an unflattering word.

Juanito Jabat, then editor of this paper, called me “politically naive”. He was a good personal friend and I was then one of the lawyers of Dr. Jose Gullas and The FREEMAN, so I never entertained the thought that Sir Nito wanted to insult me. He probably had in mind the dictionary meaning of naive as “having or showing unaffected simplicity of nature or absence of artificiality.”

I might, indeed, be politically naive and therefore claim to be absent of any artificiality. In this condition, I dare say that despite the mind-boggling results of the latest poll surveys showing Erwin Tulfo as leading the Senate race, and Lito Lapid entrenched in fourth place, we still can rethink our position and junk their candidacies in tomorrow’s election. In my naiveté, I still believe that we as a people can, in the next 24 hours, consider important reasons NOT to vote for Tulfo, Lapid, and other senatoriables who are bunched in the garbage bag called “incompetent and political dynasties”.
