The Philippine labor market showed resilience despite severe weather disruptions, according to the July 2025 Labor Force Survey (LFS) released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

The survey recorded an employment rate of 94.7 percent, lower than last year’s 95.3 percent, as typhoons and monsoon rains battered Luzon, displacing thousands and halting business operations.

Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said, in a statement, that the calamities triggered temporary job losses, reduced working hours, and forced many to leave the labor force, with the underemployment rate climbing to 14.8 percent.
