Disqualify more
The Freeman
|May 09, 2025
Following his discriminatory remarks against single women, the Commission on Elections has ruled to disqualify Pasig congressional candidate Ian Sia.
-
This is well-deserved considering what he said, and then what he did to counter those remarks, although his body-shaming of a former aide to prove that he wasn't just for sexy women wasn't cited by the Comelec as another reason for his disqualification.
His case looks to be a first; so far we haven't heard of any other candidate in Philippine polls disqualified for sexist remarks.
So the Comelec has decided that he doesn't deserve to be a candidate. But now can the commission disqualify more names from the ballot?
