CSMC listed as DOH's leptospirosis fast lane

The Department of Health (DOH) has expanded its nationwide network of Leptospirosis fast lanes to 49 hospitals, with Cebu South Medical Center now included among the facilities offering rapid assessment and treatment for flood-related infections.

Cases of leptospirosis nationwide are now at 2,396 based on DOH’s data, with Central Visayas recording 141 cases from January to August 5, 2025. Most of the cases in the region were traced to Cebu City and Mandaue.
DOH-7 Assistant Regional Director Dr. Jonathan Neil Erasmo earlier said that 81% of the cases involved male patients, and the youngest was a one-year-old infant.
While no fatalities have been reported, health officials remained alert.
The inclusion of Cebu South Medical Center in the DOH’s fast lane initiative marks a significant step in the region’s public health response.
