The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Region 7 emerged as one of the most decorated regional offices in the just-concluded 2025 nationwide Comelec PRAISE Awards in Pasay City, with multiple citations for innovation, operational excellence, and inclusive service delivery.

Leading the roster of honorees was election officer Omar Sharif Mamalinta of Carmen, Cebu, who achieved a rare grand slam distinction after being named Most Outstanding Election Officer for Visayas anew.
His selection was based not only on his current assignment in Carmen but also on his achievements in previous posts, including Carcar City and Oslob, Cebu.
In 2023, while serving as acting election officer in Carcar City, he was awarded Best OEO in Voter Education and Information Dissemination for Visayas for his proactive outreach and information campaigns, and Best Office in Kasuotang Katutubo for Indigenous Peoples Month for promoting cultural inclusivity.
