Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival will meet with the newly formed Special Price Monitoring and Consumer Protection Body (SPMCPB) to tackle the continuing rise in fuel prices and address concerns over basic commodity costs.

The meeting, scheduled at the Mayor’s Office Conference Room in Cebu City Hall, marks the first official convening of the SPMCPB, which was created under Executive Order No. 066.

The body brings together city officials, national agencies, and private sector representatives to strengthen monitoring, enforcement, and consumer protection efforts amid global economic pressures.

Archival acknowledged that while fuel prices have been steadily increasing, the city’s monitoring teams have not yet observed extreme spikes in basic goods.

“Wala kaayoy grabe nga pagsaka,” he said, noting that rice in some areas including downtown area remains at 45 per kilo. The variety or brand however, had not been revealed.
