Cebu-Thai trade ties get boost with 'Thailand Week' hosting

Trade and investment relations between Cebu and Thailand moved into sharper focus as the Royal Thai Embassy to the Philippines opened Thailand Week 2026 in Cebu, underscoring the city's growing role as a regional gateway for economic cooperation.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on March 12, Thai Ambassador to the Philippines Makawadee Sumitmor said the event highlights "mutual trust and expanding commercial, investment and people-to-people partnerships" between the two Southeast Asian economies under the framework of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Organized by Thailand's Department of International Trade Promotion under the Ministry of Commerce through the Thai Trade Center Manila, the four-day expo gathers Thai small and medium enterprises (SMEs) seeking to connect with Filipino distributors, retailers and consumers. The event runs until March 15 at Ayala Center Cebu.
