Balamban hospital now offers clinic for cancer-related pain

Considered to be the first in Cebu and even in the Visayas, the Provincial Hospital of Balamban has opened its first dedicated interventional pain clinic offering advanced treatment for patients suffering from chronic and cancer-related pain.

According to Capitol Public Health Consultant Dr. Elisse Nicole "Nikki" Catalan, the clinic provides specialized interventional pain management services, including minimally invasive procedures designed to relieve long-term and debilitating pain.

"This clinic is for patients with chronic pain, joint pain, and cancer-related pain. Manghambog jud mi nga first jud na siya in Cebu," Catalan said.

Among the procedures offered is Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA), a technique that targets specific nerves responsible for transmitting pain signals.

By disrupting these signals, the procedure can significantly reduce pain, improve mobility, and enhance quality of life.

The clinic was made possible through the initiative of Dr. Kirby Ardiente, with support from CPH-Balamban Chief of Hospital Dr. Olivia Dandan, Catalan said.
