Following the recently concluded elections, Cebu City Mayor-elect Nestor Archival is set to meet with outgoing Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia at Cebu City Hall today, May 19, 2025, to fully discuss the transition.

It has now been exactly a week since the elections, and Archival admitted he has yet to talk with Garcia, his former colleague in the city council back when Garcia was still the vice mayor and the presiding officer.

According to Archival, it is only fitting that he meet with Garcia personally to formally outline the guidelines for the transition, with Garcia’s transition team coordinating alongside his own. To formalize this, Archival said they are also set to send an official letter to Garcia.

While Cebu City Administrator Attorney Kristine Joyce Batucan has been tasked by Garcia to head his transition team, Archival said he will make his own team public within the week.

On the specific aspects at City Hall, particularly with the employees, Archival admitted that despite his upcoming takeover, there are no plans yet on whether there will be employee reassignments within City Hall.

In the meantime, he said they would implement a status quo.
