Adiong likens Leviste's solar project lapse to 'ghost projects'

Lanao del Sur 1st District Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong took aim at neophyte Batangas 1st District Rep. Leandro Leviste, saying the latter should reflect on his own record before criticizing fellow lawmakers over the alleged flood control scandal.
-
Adiong said that if Leviste has no qualms about vilifying his colleagues, he should also acknowledge his own failure to deliver on promised solar power projects, drawing a parallel between the issue and alleged “ghost projects.”
“As far as I’m concerned, if you sold the franchise that Congress gave you and you just want to escape responsibility on your obligation by reneging on your promise, then it’s no different from what we call ghost projects,” Adiong said.
The lawmaker made the comparison after Leviste, the son of Sen. Loren Legarda, admitted owning the company penalized by the Department of Energy (DOE) with a P24-billion fine. The company had been granted a 25-year congressional franchise.
Leviste confirmed in an interview with veteran broadcast journalist Pinky Webb on her “On Point” program on Bilyonaryo News Channel that the firm was Solar Philippines Power Project Holdings Inc. (SPPPHI).
