A disaster just waiting to happen

According to a report in this newspaper, city officials just discovered it doesn't have enough personnel in the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Mayor Nestor Archival said he was about to ramp up the city's disaster preparedness and response mechanism when he found out this weakness.

The timing of this discovery is quite concerning, considering how we are to expect more floods due to the rainy weather and perhaps even typhoons because of the time of the year.

We need to be on our toes and authorities need to address this issue as soon as possible.
