Officials mull 'what if Don follows up on promises'

With Donald Trump winning at the presidential polls, Pentagon officials are holding informal discussions about how the Department of Defence would respond if the President-elect issues orders to deploy active-duty troops domestically and fire hordes of apolitical staffers.

Top of mind for many defence officials is how Trump plans to wield American military power at home. Last month, he had said he would not hesitate to use the military against what he called "the enemy from within" and "radical left lunatics".
